At Intx we are often asked to provide transport for school and college trips, which can be anything from a few pupils attending a school’s parliament meeting to a youth orchestra going on a European Tour. When working with schools it is important to provide the best advice on which vehicles are suitable for their needs, to provide safe and efficient transport for pupils and staff.
Examples of different scenarios would be:
Primary School Trip to local museum – often this will be for a year group and will involve between 70-80 pupils and staff, the vehicle that we would supply for this type of trip would be a double-decker bus which can seat up to about 80 passengers with seatbelts. These vehicles are ideal for local transfers and can save money by only using one vehicle rather than two, and are relatively safe as the vehicles travel relatively slowly around town.
High School Trip to Education Fayre – generally this would be for a smaller group of perhaps 10-12 pupils, for this type of trip we would recommend a transit style minibus, which again are fitted with seatbelts and can easily take a small group to a local destination or further afield. These vehicles are good for day trips when pupils don’t have any luggage, for longer trips we would recommend 16 seater Mercedes Mini coach which can also accommodate luggage.
European School Trip – there are many reasons that schools and colleges organise European trips, it can be for city visits, orchestra and choir tours, skiing trips and other sports events. For long journeys like these it is important that coaches are comfortable, safe and have washroom facilities, we are able to supply many different size coaches and trailers for these types of trips and are happy to offer our best advice as to what vehicle is suitable and how many drivers are required.
Whilst the vehicles are the most important element, we also ensure that drivers are properly trained and CRB checked to work with young people.
